Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When should my child begin lessons?

A. Students as young as 4 may begin piano. In the 4-5 age group parent involvement is very important. Many children begin piano around age 5-6, about the same time they start school, however there is no specific age to begin piano. Enthusiasm and a desire to learn are all that are required. Ages 8 and up are a good time to begin instrumental lessons such as flute, clarinet, saxophone.

A. Daily practice is a must. Rather than set a time limit, I recommend practicing long enough to cover all the assigned material for the week followed by review of previous music and concluding with a favorite piece.
